Spec details -- a unique design of TPE foam x Clear Fusion Grit

At the heart of the Ignite isa TPE (thermoplastic elastomer)-based diving-board-type foam. By adopting TPE rather than the common EVA foam, it improves durability. The foam is arranged in a perimeter-focused structure called "diving-board type," responding softly on slow swings and, on fast swings, having the core stiffen to draw out power -- realizing"Activated Power".

The face usesRaw carbon fiber, and on top of that a proprietaryClear Fusion Gritis spray-coated. This surface treatment is designed to bond directly to the peel ply, giving higher grit longevity than ordinary raw carbon.

Performance test results -- spin 92nd percentile, grit longevity 90%

According to measured data from review sites, spin generation is2,088 RPM, placing it among all paddles in the92nd percentile. It recorded high numbers on the attacking side: power 93%, pop 89%, control 80%, and sweet-spot size 89%.

What stands out is the grit longevity test. The retention rate of Ra (arithmetic mean roughness) was90%, and the retention rate of Rz (maximum height roughness) was88%, exceeding the average value of standard raw carbon. While the grit on typical foam paddles degrades in 2-3 months, the Ignite's surface treatment can be expected to maintain spin performance over a long period.

Local reviewers' assessments

Pickleball Effect rated it, saying, "It's designed so power scales with swing speed, not a type that always releases free power. You get the feeling of drawing out power with your own swing." A comparison comment also drew attention: "If JOOLA had gone the foam route, the Pro V series might have turned out like this."

Matt's Pickleball said, "Ideal for foam-paddle beginners. Rather than the instant pop of a Selkirk Boomstik or B&B Loco, it has a dense, soft feel that's easy to control."

In the user community, there is a lot of practical feedback that "a swing weight of 113 is on the light side for a foam paddle, so you're less likely to be late on the swing even in hands battles."

Practical information for Japanese players

Official sales in Japan are unconfirmed at this point, but you can buy it directly from Thrive Pickleball's official site (thrivepb.com).「IGNITE HYBRID FOAM」is listed as, with an estimated ship date around April 27. Whether international shipping is supported needs to be checked on the official site.

Popular in Japan,11Six24 Power 2and compared with the JOOLA Pro V series, the Ignite has the edge in handling thanks to its lighter swing weight. On the other hand, because its power delivery is "swing-speed dependent," it may take some getting used to for Japanese players who often use compact swings.

Ripple effects on the industry -- the segmentation of the foam-core market accelerates

In the 2026 paddle market, foam cores have completely become mainstream, with all of the top 10 ranked models occupied by foam cores. Within that, the Thrive Ignite proposes a new category called "activated power," aiming at the middle ground between the conventional "instant-pop foam" and "control-focused polymer."

Honolulu hasgrit durability over 6 monthswith its Crystal Blue Endurance Surface model set for May, and the competition over surface-treatment durability is intensifying. How far the Thrive Ignite's Clear Fusion Grit penetrates the market is a trend to watch going forward.

Comparison of notable 2026 foam-core paddles
Model Price Swing weight Spin (RPM) Features
Thrive Ignite 15.5mm $220 (about 33,000 yen) 113 2,088 Activated power, lightweight foam
Selkirk Boomstik $250 (about 37,500 yen) 118〜120 2,100+ Instant-pop foam
11Six24 Power 2 $230 (about 34,500 yen) 116 2,050+ Durability-focused with HexGrit
JOOLA Pro V (Kosmos) $250 (about 37,500 yen) 117 2,000+ Pro model, polymer core

Summary

The Thrive Ignite 15.5mm is a paddle that cuts into the foam-core-dominated 2026 paddle market with the new concept of "activated power." Combining a light 113 swing weight with the attacking power of 2,088 RPM spin, its design that suppresses the weight and unruliness characteristic of foam paddles makes it an attractive option for players considering a move to foam.

FAQ

What is "Activated Power"?

A Thrive-original design concept. Foam is arranged around the perimeter in a diving-board shape, so that it responds softly on slow swings and only stiffens the core to release power on fast swings. Rather than always delivering strong pop like conventional foam paddles, the power changes according to swing speed.

What kind of player is the Ignite suited to?

It suits players moving to a foam-core paddle for the first time and players who want power but don't want to sacrifice control either. Conversely, it may not fit people who want free power without swinging or who prefer a hard, poppy feel.

How long does Clear Fusion Grit last?

In testing it recorded a 90% Ra retention and 88% Rz retention, lasting longer than a standard raw carbon face. The specific number of months depends on usage frequency, but you can expect durability exceeding the 2-3 months of typical grit.
