How the Pickleball Environment in Aichi Has Changed

In Aichi Prefecture, pickleball facilities have been rapidly developed from the end of 2025 into the first half of 2026. Until then, it centered on borrowing tennis courts and circles rotating through gymnasiums, but an indoor-only facility in Nagoya City and an outdoor-only court in Handa City led the way, and new dedicated facilities have opened one after another in Gamagori City and elsewhere.

You could call it a turning point where the prefecture is escaping its status as a "dedicated-court blank spot." This article introduces where you can play in Aichi and how to find it, focusing only on facilities whose existence could be verified through sources.

The Main Facilities Where You Can Play in Aichi [At a Glance]

We've organized the dedicated courts and the tennis-facility hubs into a list. For any facility that catches your eye, check the explanations in the latter half as well.

With 4 indoor-only courts in the Higashi-Mikawa area that had their grand opening in June 2026, hours are 10:00–20:00 and 2,200 yen for 1 court/1 hour is the guide. Its location, easy to drop by while shopping, is a draw too.

The Current State of Court Development in Aichi and How to Find One

While Aichi Prefecture saw dedicated facilities increase all at once, everyday practice is supported by circles rotating through gymnasiums and by schools. JPA-affiliated circles like NAGOYA PICKLES rotate through gymnasiums in Nagoya City and Nisshin City.

Since venues and schedules change by circle, checking the latest info put out by a circle in the area you want to join is the surest bet. Facilities are still increasing, so filtering a nationwide facility list service by "Aichi" makes it easier to find new hubs.

What Is Pickleball? For First-Timers

Pickleball is a racket sport played with a court smaller than a tennis court and a perforated plastic ball. With simple rules and rallies that keep going, it's enjoyable regardless of athletic background or age, and the number of players is growing worldwide.

The only gear you really need is a paddle and a ball, and many facilities and circles lend equipment out. Hitting a few at a trial session or rental court first, and getting your own paddle once you feel the fun of it, is an easy way to start. Facilities and circles that welcome beginners are increasing in Aichi Prefecture too.

3 Steps to Start Pickleball in Aichi

1. Learn the Rules and Your Own Level

Getting a grasp of the official rules and where you currently stand first will keep you from hesitating when choosing a facility or circle. For a rough gauge of your skill level, checkthe guide to skill ratings (2.0–5.0).

2. Hit a Few at a Dedicated Court or School

Next, actually hit a few at a facility that lends gear. At an indoor-only court or school in Nagoya City, you can try it empty-handed. If you have a tennis background, getting a handle onthe differences from tenniswill make it go smoothly.

3. Try Entering a Tournament

Once you're used to it, taking on a tournament will speed up your improvement. For how to pick a tournament even beginners can enter, refer tothe beginner's tournament guide.

You Can Enjoy It at Schools and Circles, Too
