大会は9月5日、打球音の響く体育館で開かれた。「サマーリーグ」の3回目には、県内だけでなく県外からも参加者が集まり、合計121人がエントリーした。会場には数名のアメリカ人プレーヤーの姿もあった。
ピックルボールはテニス・卓球・バドミントンの要素を混ぜた競技で、ネット手前およそ2.1メートルの「キッチン」ではノーバウンドでの打ち込みが禁じられる。この一手が強打の応酬を抑え、初心者でもラリーが続きやすくしている。
Reaching a third edition matters as well. Unlike a one-off taster, a league format brings the same faces back and lets players hit repeatedly against opponents of similar standard. この構図は本土ではあまり見られない。米国でのピックルボールは、報道によれば競技人口がこの5年で5.8倍に膨らんだ人気種目だ。基地に暮らす人々にとってはなじみ深い遊びであり、その熱が公開大会にまで広がっている。沖縄の普及は、輸入というより地続きの伝播に近い。
