At the camp resort “PICA Fujisaiko” at the foot of Mt. Fuji, the indoor racket-sports facility “PICA PICKLE” opened on April 29, 2026. It's a facility where you can enjoyseven racket sports, including pickleball, unaffected by weather, showing a new trend of pickleball being naturally woven into the activities of family and group travel.

An indoor racket facility at a campground

PICA PICKLE is an indoor facility offering seven sports: pickleball, plus PaddleSmash, unique table tennis, table tennis, target booth, frescobol, and jazzminton. Foregrounding that anyone can easily enjoy it regardless of age or fitness, it's open to families and seniors too. It's positioned as an “indoor activity” you can play even in rain, amid the nature of the Fuji Five Lakes area.

The entry point of “sport within a trip”

Touching pickleball not from a tournament or a dedicated court but as an activity within family travel—this entry point is effective for the Japanese market, where awareness is 13.1%. Even without bringing gear or knowing the rules, you can borrow them on the spot and start. Being indoors, unaffected by weather, also sets up conditions for first-timers to try it casually.

Seven sports in one place

It's also characterized by preparing seven sports together—not pickleball alone but also table tennis, frescobol, and more. With 1-8 people per group and up to 4 groups able to use it at once, families and groups across generations can each enjoy it. It's designed as a “half-day activity” to stop by between Fuji sightseeing.

Impact on readers

If places where you can try it empty-handed on the side of a camp or trip increase, the sport's base will surely broaden. Pickleball, where rallies last from children to seniors together, has good affinity with travel activities that cross generations. That first step of “I tried it and it was fun” connects to continuing after returning home.

Ripple Effects on the Industry

While urban hotels turn into competition hubs, resorts have begun taking the sport in as a “travel experience.” If the six courts of the Sakai hotel are a “place to go regularly,” PICA PICKLE is a “place to encounter it.” Diversifying entry points is a pair of wheels that break down the wall of awareness.

Summary

PICA PICKLE placed the sport not at the “destination” but “along the way of a trip.” This form of broadening the playing population from the entry point of travel becomes the softest and most effective move in Japan, where awareness is 13.1%.
