Facility information
Denkosekka Miyoshi Park (Hiroshima Prefectural Miyoshi Park) is a multipurpose arena in Miyoshi that regularly holds pickleball court open days. It also has a tournament track record, including the "Miyoshi Park Cup."
As an indoor arena, it isn't affected by the weather, and its wide space allows several courts to be laid out. Free racket rentals are available, making it easy for first-timers to take part.
The participation fee for court open days is around 300 yen per person. Because open days are set on fixed dates, check the official information or the booking service for reservations and the schedule.
It's located at Shijukkan-cho, Miyoshi, Hiroshima (Hiroshima Prefectural Miyoshi Park). For detailed directions and the latest reservation methods and fees, see the official information (Official website).
At courts that make use of tennis and sports facilities, paddles, balls, and nets are often loaned out, so a feature is that it is easy to try even empty-handed.
Pickleball uses a smaller court than tennis, a lighter paddle, and a perforated lightweight ball. Once players with tennis experience get a feel for the kitchen (non-volley zone), they can improve quickly.
Because the rules are easy to understand and rallies continue easily, it can be enjoyed regardless of exercise experience or age. It is recommended to first try hitting the ball in a trial.
Easy-to-move-in clothes and, indoors, non-marking shoes provide peace of mind. Playing regularly, even for short sessions, stabilizes your feel for the game.
There are still no dedicated permanent courts within Hiroshima, so the focus is on open days at public arenas and courts attached to tennis schools. Miyoshi Park, which also hosts tournaments, is a major hub in the north of the prefecture.
