Etta Tuionetoa (née Tuionetoa; she reverted from her married name "Wright" to her maiden name in 2025) is the first Tongan-American professional pickleball player, born in New Zealand. She grew up playing every sport, from netball, touch rugby, basketball, soccer, and field hockey to tennis, and played on the varsity tennis team at Brigham Young University Hawaii. Her uncle introduced her to pickleball in 2018.

Career and record

She turned pro on the PPA Tour in 2022. She ranks 16th in women's doubles (4,950 points) and 6th in mixed doubles (3,900 points). From her rookie year she grew rapidly, winning multiple medals. Paired with Lacy Schneemann, she beat Jessie Irvine/Callie Smith 11-2, 11-8, 8-11, 11-2 to win a women's doubles title. At the 2023 Red Rock Open she paired with Megan Dizon to win women's doubles. As of November 2025 she had played 75 tournaments and 481 matches with a 63.0% win rate.

Play style

Her weapons are the all-around athleticism and quick reactions built on her varied sports background. She shows especially steady strength in doubles and mixed doubles.
