Pickleball in 60 Seconds is a practical book for moving from 3.0 to 4.0
The full title is Pickleball in 60 Seconds: Everything You Need to Know to Master the World’s Hottest Sport. As the subtitle suggests, it is built in short lesson units, aimed at everyone from the first-time paddle holder to intermediates trying to break out of 3.0 and reach 4.0 and above.
Tomassi's record is not that of an unbeatable champion. Across the APP and PPA tours he has played more than 32 matches for a career win rate of 46.5%. He has two APP titles, more than eight tour medals in total, and finished fourth in the pro division at the APP Newport Beach Open.
| Item | Figures |
|---|---|
| Pro tour appearances | More than 32 |
| Career Win Rate | 46.5% |
| APP Tour titles | 2 |
| Career tour medals | More than 8 |
Precisely because he sits short of the very top, his eye level matches readers clawing their way from 3.0 to 4.0. His strength is that he can put the exact path he climbed straight into a teaching product.
Tomassi's foundation lies in content rather than the book. Since 15 September 2023 he has posted one video every day without a break, passing 800 posts. Cumulative views top 100 million, followers across his social accounts reach 500,000, and he also runs the "Secrets to 5.0" newsletter, which hands out know-how good enough to charge for.
What Japanese players can read here is a blueprint for the teaching side
Japan has a chronic shortage of coaches and teaching materials relative to its growing player base. The way a coaching clinic in Tsuyama, Okayama closed once it filled upshows that coach development, not court construction, is the bottleneck. As a first step away from relying on videos,Japan's first printed beginner's guidehas only just arrived; between a Japan at that stage and a United States where players publish their own books, the depth of teaching material is on a different level.
Whether high-earning coaches will appear in Japan toois the question, and he shows one answer: the player builds the teaching material himself.
Keep your own improvement in a form you can hand to someone else
Write down the realizations you put into words while playing, so they can be turned into teaching material later. That habit is what Tomassi built with his daily videos. For enthusiasts in Japan, more than reading one instructional book, leaving notes on the stumbles you got past and passing them to the next beginner creates a small loop that tells in a scene short of coaches. Even sharing a single note at your club on the habit you dropped the week your serve settled down produces teaching material. Tomassi's 800 videos started from the same daily record, and the finished book sat on the far end of that line.
