What is Picklr──one of the world's largest pickleball facility chains

Picklr is a U.S.-born indoor pickleball facility brand partnered with the PPA TOUR (Professional Pickleball Association). It plans to roll out to “over 500 locations worldwide” and is rapidly expanding its bases, centered on North America. In April it also opened new facilities in Fremont, Seattle (10-court) and West Allis, Wisconsin (10-court).

Its features include hard-court surfaces meeting the PPA TOUR's official standards, an AI coaching system, and running league play. The concept is that “everyone from casual players to pros can enjoy courts of the same quality.”

The world's largest indoor facility (48-court) is planned in Arizonaand other large pickleball facilities keep being built in a rush in the U.S. Picklr's entry into Japan shows that this wave of global facility expansion has reached Asia.

Reaction from industry insiders

Voices of anticipation are rising from Japanese pickleball stakeholders. One top domestic player said, “If PPA-official-standard courts become usable in Japan, domestic players' preparation for international tournaments will improve dramatically.”

From a facility-operation perspective, there's an assessment that “the AEON Mall location has high appeal to tennis-experienced people and families. It should contribute greatly to expanding pickleball awareness.” On social media, reactions such as “I'm curious about the AI coaching in Toyosu” and “With 7 courts you could even host tournaments” were seen.

Japan's pickleball facility situation

In Japan, dedicated pickleball facilities are rapidly increasing. In the U.S., doublings of public courts keep occurringBut in Japan too, more hotels and commercial facilities are installing courts. In March 2026, the Shinagawa Prince Hotel opened a court in a banquet hall on the 10th floor of its Main Tower. The JPA TOP TOUR T7 Hamanako in May was held at a Tokyu Resort, and other cases show that tie-ups with resort facilities are advancing as well.

Picklr's first landing in Japan could be a major turning point for the country's pickleball scene. AEON Mall Makuhari Shintoshin is within walking distance of Kaihin-Makuhari Station on the JR Keiyo Line. Try it out in Makuhari first, then wait for the flagship facility in Toyosu to open in autumn.
