The Central and Northern Okinawa pickleball practice sessions are held in gymnasiums from central to northern Okinawa Island. Everyone from first-timers and beginners to experienced players takes part, across ages from children to seniors.

Details

The first half centers on drills, with rule explanations and getting used to the ball for newcomers and skill-building work for experienced players, and the second half is doubles game play with partners rotating. Venues change by date and include Ginowan Municipal Gymnasium, Ginoza Arena, Motobu Town Gymnasium, Kin Town Yaka Community Center Gymnasium, the sub-arena at Okinawa Prefectural Sports Park Gymnasium and the sub-arena at Naha Municipal Gymnasium. Equipment is lent out, so all you need to bring is a pair of indoor shoes.

Fees and participation

Fees run from free to about 400 yen depending on the venue, collected as a voluntary contribution toward consumable equipment costs. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian. The latest dates and venues are announced on Instagram.
