The Carvana PPA Tour's "Fasenra Sacramento Open presented by Zimmer Biomet," held in Sacramento, California from April 13–19, has concluded its full schedule. Our earlier breaking-news article reported the men's doubles (Johns & Tardio) and women's singles (Fahey) results, but this time we summarize the full results of all five events, includingthe mixed doubles and men's singles finals decided on Sundayand the details of women's doubles.

Note that because this tournament was held right after the MB PPA Tour Asia Hanoi Cup, multiple top players including Anna Leigh Waters, Anna Bright, Christian Alshon, and Hayden Patriquin sat out.

Mixed doubles: Onsins & Black win a five-game battle

The Sunday afternoon mixed doubles final was the highlight of this tournament. The pair of Erik Onsins and Tyra Black defeated the Johnson siblings, Jorja & JW, in a full five-game set.

Black had injured her hamstring in the women's doubles that same morning and competed with her leg taped. She took the first game 11-7, but the Johnson siblings ran off the second and third games 11-6 and 11-3, seizing the momentum. In the fourth and fifth games, however, Onsins wrested back control with aggressive play using the width of the court, closing out both 11-8.

For Onsins, it washis first mixed doubles title in the U.S.. He won a men's doubles double title at an Asian tournament in 2025, but this is his first gold on U.S. soil. Black won this season with Alshon at the Indoor National Championships, making this her second mixed doubles gold medal. In the post-match interview, both showed tearsconveying the weight of the win.

Men's singles: Staksrud completes a total conquest of "win everything, take every game"

Federico Staksrud took the men's singles witha total sweep, dropping not a single gamethrough the tournament. He faced Pesa Teoni, Tama Shimabukuro, Noe Khlif, Roscoe Bellamy, and Zane Ford in the final, winning every match in straight games. He claimed the gold with overwhelming dominance.

In the men's singles quarterfinals, there was a moment whenHunter Johnson was disqualified. During a timeout in the third game against Zane Ford, he threw his paddle toward the bench with his left hand; the handle bounced off the ground and hit a spectator's leg in the stands. Head referee Don Stanley declared a disqualification, and Ford advanced to the semifinals.

Women's doubles: Rohrabacher & Todd win gold in their first pairing

The pair of Rachel Rohrabacher and Parris Todd beat Jorja Johnson & Tyra Black in four games. This pair had built up results — bronze at the Red Rock tournament and silver at the Newport Beach tournament — and on their third attempt they finally wontheir first gold medal.

Men's doubles & women's singles: the Johns pair and Fahey stay in top form

Ben Johns & Gabe Tardio have gone7 for 7 in 2026 at U.S. domestic tournamentswith a cumulative game record of 77-9 (a 90% win rate), showing dominance that keeps the rest at bay. Kate Fahey won the final in commanding fashion, 11-3 and 11-0, taking her first gold medal since winning this same tournament last September.

Notable topics from the tournament

A technical warning to Onsins: In the men's doubles quarterfinals (vs. Pablo Tellez & Jack Sock, with partner Dylan Frazier), Onsins was given a technical warning for blowing on the ball. On social media, voices calling it "too harsh" arose, stirring controversy.

The impact of absent key players: With Waters, Bright, and others back from the Asian tournament sitting out, the draw was configured differently than usual. As a result, it became a tournament that shone a light on rapidly rising young and mid-tier players such as Onsins and Staksrud.

Reactions on social media and on-site

The Dink reporter: "When I immediately posted on X about Onsins's ball-blowing TW, there was a big response. Debate continues, including over the correctness of the call."

Pickleball fan (X): "Black fighting through five games while limping and then crying — that's got to be the best moment of the season."

U.S. pickleball community: "Staksrud winning every match in straight games is on another level. He probably would have won even if Waters- or Johns-caliber players had competed."

Impact on the Finals qualifying race

This tournament's results tie directly into the Carvana PPA Tour's Finals qualifying battle. Johns & Tardio's men's doubles is rock-solid, but in mixed doubles and women's doubles pairing fluidity is high, and the balance of power could shift greatly in future tour stops.

Summary

The final day of the Sacramento Open was packed with memorable scenes: Black & Onsins fighting through to their first mixed doubles crown despite injury, and Staksrud's undefeated sweep. The PPA Tour moves on to the next stop, but it's worth watching whether the new champions born here can keep their momentum into the second half of the season.
