Riley Newman is a professional pickleball player from Whidbey Island, Washington. After attending Seattle University on a tennis scholarship, he discovered pickleball in the summer of 2017 and was immediately captivated by its strategy and depth. His sister Lindsey Newman is also a pro pickleball player, and they sometimes pair in mixed doubles. He currently lives in New York.

Career and record

One of the most successful players on the PPA Tour. In his doubles partnership with Matt Wright (January 2022 to June 2023) he won a medal at all 27 tournaments they played and won 8 of them, achieving the feat of beating the Johns brothers four times in finals. He split with Wright in June 2023 but reunited in 2025. As a top player always in the mix on Championship Sunday, he thrives mainly in mixed doubles.

His hallmarks are outstanding tactical vision and a fierce competitive spirit that accepts nothing but victory. He excels at attacking power at the net and court coverage, and he is a strategic player who values partner coordination. He always aims for the heights with new partnerships.

Latest developments

In MLP he belongs to the Brooklyn Pickleball Team. In 2025 he competed on tour in his reunited partnership with Matt Wright. He ranks 11th in PPA Tour men's singles.
