Andrei Daescu is a professional pickleball player from Bucharest, Romania, born February 28, 1988. As a former pro tennis player, he reached a career-high ATP doubles ranking of 120 and represented Romania in the Davis Cup. He also played in the 2015 US Open. He earned a tennis scholarship to the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 2010. He is now based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Career and record

He discovered pickleball at the BallenIsles Country Club in Florida in 2017 and has competed in tournaments ever since. On the PPA Tour he has won six gold medals in men's doubles and one in mixed doubles. At the 2025 PPA Mesa Open he beat the pairing of Ben Johns and Gabe Tardio in a five-game battle to take men's doubles gold. He was in top form, winning four men's doubles gold medals in the 2025 season alone. In MLP he won the 2025 MLP Championship as part of the Columbus Sliders, claiming his second MLP title.

Play style

His foundation is the high-level skill and power built in pro tennis. In recent years his defense and net-play precision have improved dramatically, and he is a rare player still growing in his late 30s.

Latest developments

In 2026 he takes on men's doubles in a new partnership with Federico Staksrud. As a talent ranked 3rd in the power rankings, he remains at the center of the title race.
