Lea Jansenis an American professional pickleball player from Spokane, Washington. She played tennis at Washington State University (WSU), where she was named conference Player of the Year and a NAIA First-Team All-American. She earned a degree in accounting and an MBA in healthcare management.
In the summer of 2019, at the urging of her childhood friendTyson McGuffin, she started pickleball. She made her pro debut in 2020 and rose to prominence rapidly onPPA Tour. She has won medals in all three events at major tournaments.
At 23 she was hospitalized with ketoacidosis andtype 1 diabeteswas diagnosed. While battling blood-sugar management, she continues to compete at the top level as a pro athlete, becoming a role model for people fighting the same disease.
