Widely hailed as the greatest player in pickleball history, he has long held world No. 1 in men's singles. An intellectual athlete, he earned a degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Maryland.<\/p>\n<h2>My encounter with pickleball<\/h2>\n<p>In 2016, at age 17, he discovered pickleball during a family trip to Florida. As a child he had played tennis and table tennis, so the fundamentals of racket sports were already in place. Just a few years after taking up pickleball, he achieved astonishing growth to reach the top of the pro tour.<\/p>\n<h2>Overwhelming competitive record<\/h2>\n<p>In 2019 at the Tournament of Champions, he became the first men's pro to achieve a Triple Crown (gold in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles).
