An October 3 release and how the first 200 are sold

Sales start online at PICKLEBALL ONE STORE at 0:00 on October 3, and at the company's own PICKLEBALL ONE Ginza Shimbashi store in Chiyoda, Tokyo, at 10:00 the same day. Online purchases are limited to one per person and in-store purchases to three, and sales are within Japan only, with no overseas shipping. Against a first run of 200, both channels cap how many a single buyer can take.

The base is Cyclone 2.0 16mm from the U.S. brand AIREO. The official description calls it a model built for power and spin. The face is NanoGraph using T700 carbon and the core is PulseFoam, in a structure that floats the foam. Weight is about 7.7 ounces (about 218 g, plus or minus 0.15 oz), core thickness 16 mm, in an elongated shape about 16.5 inches (about 42 cm) long and about 7.5 inches (about 19 cm) wide. It is not a toy leaning on decoration but a competition model used as is.

The Godzilla details worked into the design

Two different Godzillas appear on the two faces, and the gradient along the edge calls to mind the atomic heat ray. The grip is finished with a texture suggesting Godzilla's hide, and the grip band carries the words KING OF THE MONSTERS. The packaging is a Godzilla-specific box as well. Keeping the performance of a working paddle while raising the fidelity of the world under Toho's supervision is what sets it apart from a simple printed item.

Read as a novelty and sales-promotion design

This product is also an example of pairing a character IP with a functional item. A keepsake with no practical use tends to end at a single purchase, but load a world onto a tool people can actually play with and it keeps showing up in use after the sale, so the conversation inside the community lasts longer. Holding the quantity down and capping purchases is a standard promotional way to build early momentum through scarcity. For anyone planning a limited product around an IP, a design that can be displayed and also used is a template that travels.
