When talking about the spread of pickleball, the topics are often paddles, tournaments, and players. But when actually opening a court, what operators agonize over to the very end is the "ground beneath their feet." On June 16, 2026, BASE SPORTS PERFORMANCE LLC began selling "ELITE COURT CONTROL," a flooring tile designed specifically for pickleball. It's not equipment, but a behind-the-scenes product that makes the court itself. For Japan, where the shortage of dedicated courts is a bottleneck for the spread, this kind of supply-side move can't be overlooked.

However, looking at the play environment, those playing on dedicated courts stay at about 30% (30.1%), while about half (49.5%) are renting space in public gymnasiums. The "boxes" to accommodate the playing population are insufficient. Playing on the floor of a gymnasium meant for badminton or basketball throws off the grip and ball bounce from the sport's true feel. With a dedicated environment expected to accelerate retention and population growth, the humble part that is flooring is actually in a position to sway the speed of the spread.

The ELITE COURT CONTROL launched this time is positioned as one of the company's court flooring series "ELITE COURT." As a structure common to the series, the design uses TPE material on the surface for grip and rebound, PP material for the base to give stability and durability, and incorporates cushioning material for shock absorption. There's also a spec for fastening it to the floor with a dedicated tool, a contrivance to prevent wind-caused shifting and theft outdoors. Being an assemble-it-yourself tile, it can convert existing space into a court in a short period and lets you swap out only damaged sections. It's a turning point where layers of durable goods and services -- flooring, installation, and warranty -- are added to a market that had centered on equipment.

When an operator considering a dedicated court compares flooring, the axes to look at can be roughly organized as follows. From the announced information and the practical viewpoint of facility introduction, we've compiled the judgment points into a table.
